Job description / Role
IT Project Manager - Banking - Qatar
Purpose: To be responsible for end-to-end ownership of assigned projects to implement new information systems within the Bank. To ensure that the execution of information systems projects in the Bank to the extent possible is characterised by on-time and on-budget delivery, with high standards of risk and issue management.
Major areas of responsibility:
* Must be business driven with a thorough and proven understanding of Banking activities and products.
* Responsible to undertake structured analysis of vendor proposals for the supply of new system solutions in close collaboration with the concerned business unit(s).
* Responsible for the execution of projects to implement selected new information systems.
* Accountable for managing the allocated budget for assigned projects and reporting budget utilisation.
* Responsible for the identification and management of project risks for each assigned project(s).
* Responsible for the recording and managing of business area and technical issues in each of the assigned projects.
* Responsible for the preparation of a plan for the complete project lifecycle of assigned projects and for the update of these plans during that lifecycle.
* Responsible for coordination of required business area resources needed for the completion of assigned projects.
* Strict adherence to PMO framework and full compliances with PMO processes.
* Timely issuance of progress reports and on ad-hoc basis.
* Responsible for the maintenance of all project documentation, such as project charters, project plans and the RISKs/Issues list.
* Responsible for the maintenance of the Project documentation in the SharePoint portal.
* Should have sufficient technical know-how to understand the interactions of the various systems that make up the Bank's information systems environment.
* Must be able to liaise with respective technical unit(s) to establish the "impact of change" from the introduction of new software versions or new product.
* Must be able to prepare project status update presentations and present to senior management and project stakeholders when required.
Requirements
* Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
* 8+ years' experience in the Banking /IT activities including 5+ years in the management of systems implementations
* Specialised training in: Project budgeting & banking practices and procedures
* Broad knowledge and experience in: IT Project Management
* Excellent skills in: Communication, Presentation & Influencing
* Demonstrated ability to: Team working, Perform under strict timelines
* General knowledge of: Different project management standards including PMI framework
