Lead Finance Officer - Internal Controls - Qatar Airways - Doha

In the role of Lead Finance Officer - Internal Controls, you will be monitoring and ensuring compliance with internal controls within Qatar Airways. Alongside this, you will be working to improve to quality and effectiveness of those controls and their documentation.

In particular, your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Develop and improve internal controls within the business and identify any apparent weakness in controls for resolution.
- Identify the areas where QR Group needs robust internal control and implement the same.
- Ensure our existing internal controls are up to date and in line with current processes and industry standards
- Develop and monitor corporate governance procedures across QR Group
- Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with all finance policies and procedures of Qatar Airways. Provide clear and effective guidance to finance staff and key stakeholders.
- Evaluate any changes needed as a result of changes in procedures or regulations.
- Review the reports of both internal and external auditors, comment on these reports and develop the internal control function in response to these reports, both at Head Office and Outstations.
- Develop a process of self audit throughout the finance function to improve compliance.
- Participate in working groups ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Manage the communication process of changes in internal control procedures
- Liaise with Group Finance to ensure, where relevant, compliance across the Qatar Airways group.
- Liaise internally with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal controls
- Review and implement effective and efficient internal controls
- Streamline control processes to meet finance objectives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will need a Bachelor's degree with an ACCA/ACA or CPA qualification. You will have 5 or more years of financial accounting experience with at least 3 years in an audit or internal controls environment.

In addition, you will hold the following job specific skills:
- Sound understanding of Internal Audit and Corporate Governance.
- Sound knowledge of accounting policies and procedures, internal controls and their applications including internal controls framework.
- Proven ability to constantly meet challenging deadlines.
- Must have excellent organizational ability to be able to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities/work interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Must be a self starter and have the ability to work independently with minimal instructions.
- Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, as is the ability to work effectively across the organization
