Legal Specialist - Qatar Airways - Doha

In this role will be responsible to perform a wide variety of complex legal tasks to support QR Group functions and its operating divisions .This role provides critical support to the Legal Advisor and to the department overall to ensure high level legal advice and support is provided.

This role will be required to take over for the Legal Advisor when not available or be delegated authority as required. You will maintain and control legal corporate structure and risk management of the Group, and sustain their business objectives, strategies and expansion.

Provide timely and professional legal advice, support the Legal Advisor and take responsibility in the absence of the Legal Advisor. You will provide supervision, mentoring and assistance to Legal department team members. Supervise and assist engaged lawyers and Insurers to promote and sustain Group and Corporate management from legal and insurance perspective.

Provide a full range of general legal and insurance services to the department, drafts and reviews legal opinions and provides advice on questions, including matters involving Commercial Public International Law.

With some consultation from the Legal Advisor, act for and, in major areas of a complex or original nature of litigations and claims and, represent the department and/or Legal Advisor in meetings and enquiry proceedings. Facilitate legal matters, including debatable claims, defamation cases and legal cross analysis and marshalling of detailed technical and commercial liability.


You will also be responsible to review labour contracts and the provision of services and conduct legal research, negotiate resolutions and alternatives to problems for which no precedents exist which involve major questions of administrative, commercial, private and public international law. Moreover, Review insurance covers for the group and its branches.

Prepare and review documentation required for AGM / Board Meeting preparation (on behalf of, or under the guidance of Legal Advisor).With some guidance from the Legal Advisor, assist in the preparation of new companies Govt. / Private / Special Purpose / Individual / sole formation / registration locally and regionally. Drafting and/or reviewing Resolutions as per instructions or direction from Legal Advisor. Coordination and/or follow up of Ministerial works.

Respond to legal enquiries from Attorneys, Law Enforcements Personnel and general public, exercising diplomacy. Furnishing the legal documents as per the audit requirements. Follow up of Police cases in respect to employee and Company related matters (HO / Subsidiary / Stations).Drafting Legal Notices to third parties including employees who have violated laws and/or Company policies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will need to have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with recognized degree in Law. Candidates who have Masters Degree or equivalent, Law Degree and admitted as attorney are preferred. Minimum 15 years as a Lawyer or Legal Advisor in Company or Corporate law (either in law firms or as an in-house legal advisor).

Experience with Civil Law in Qatar – demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Qatari laws. Moreover, experience in a recognised professional environment with international exposure will be needed. Background in international law. Fluent in Arabic (translation, written, reading and spoken)
