Manager Procurement - Qatar Airways - Doha

In the role of Manager Procurement, you will manage all procurement requirements in a given or group of product categories, setting category strategy, interfacing with colleagues of all levels and managing the supply to ensure best value for the company in line with its strategic, financial and operational requirements.

Key accountabilities of the role:

Strategic:
- Provision of strategic analysis to assist in category strategy definition and KPI monitoring, to measure department achievements and areas for improvement.
- Responsible for definition of supply strategy for relevant product categories, to drive cost reduction opportunities for QR.
- Manage multiple procurement projects in tandem, prioritised according to company’s strategic, financial and operational requirements

Operational:
- Interface with internal user departments and suppliers on procurement projects.
- Ensure user clearly defines requirements and obtains relevant approvals. Challenge user on volumes and specifications.
- Product and supplier sourcing, via market research to enable QR to source competitive goods/services.
- RFQ management and administration for high value and high priority requirements.
- Negotiation with suppliers on costs, commercial and contractual terms, to provide QR user departments with beneficial agreements with suppliers.
- Ensure conformance at all times of the organisation to Procurement process.
- Use best endeavours to meet reasonable user delivery requirements.
- Work closely with Contracts to ensure appropriate agreements are negotiated and in place.
- Deliver high quality, accurate work to internal customers, managers and suppliers, to build a credible reputation for the Procurement department

Financial:
- Ensure best value at all times for goods and services procured on behalf of the organisation.

Management:
- Actively manage team and team workload, setting priorities, coaching and assisting in problem resolution.
- Be accountable for decisions taken and project delivery.
- Plan, delegate and monitor staff work appropriately and assist team members in problem resolution.
- Take responsibility for self and team development through formal training and exposure to new activities.
- Work to develop metrics against which team and individuals can be measured

Leadership:
- Set an example to team in terms of behaviours, work ethic, standards, skills and delivery.
- Seek out, propose and implement business process improvements.
- Show initiative in anticipating future issues, planning for them and executing plans on a timely basis.
- Communicate strategic objectives of company, department and supply strategies.

Requirements

You will hold a Bachelors Degree or equivalent with preferably a Procurement related vocational qualification and/or educational credits.

With this, you will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a procurement role with Airline, Middle East or strong category experience.

In addition, you will hold the following job specific skills:
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating forward planning, initiative, and business process improvement, whilst tackling extra duties as required.
- Strong communications skills (including excellent written and spoken English)
- Numeracy and the ability to present data clearly and accurately.
- Excellent work programme and man-management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills

- Strategic analysis
