Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose:
- To ensure Health and Safety that QACC aims to provide is fit fr purpose, is consistent and meets both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance, airline client expectations and CAA directives.
- To be responsible for providing guidance on matters to Health and Safety, to champion and promote occupational health and safety awareness, to develop, monitor the safety performance with Qatar Aircraft Catering Company (QACC) and audit compliance.

Accountabilities:

Operational
- To check that safety related functions and activities such as risk assessments, inspection, training and accident investigation etc. are being satisfactorily resourced and undertaken by the departmental managers.
- Liaises and work with Qatar Airways Group Safety & Security Group to ensure that policies and directives are followed
- Develop a campaign of safety culture across QACC in line with Group Safety & Security visions and values
- To implement Qatar Airways Group Safety Management System by developing internal safety procedures, standards and specifications, to meet international and national standards, at the new QACC building and operational areas
- Through proactive Risk Assessment Management, manage the development of new policies, and therefore new QACC safety standards, through continuous improvement
- Conduct investigations in line with QR Group Investigation procedures into safely occurrences,manages audits and inspection programmes, produce reports and make recommendations

Management & Leadership
- Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives
- Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices,, and makes appropriate changes if needed
- Oversee and supervise employees.Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop, and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery

Development
- Take responsibility for own on -going personal development and growth of expertise
- Train and develop other employees for proper succession planning and risk management
- Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program
- Train Qatari staff in the duties above
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Operational Safety
- Responsible to ensure that employees at all levels understand work health and safety requirements and expectations through provision of relevant QR Group induction,information, instruction, training and supervision
- Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environment management policies,procedures and controls across the operation to assure employee safety,security, legislative compliance and delivery of high quality service with a responsible environmental attitude
- Ensure that all managers and supervisors understand work, health and safety requirements and expectations to the extent that they can pass on relevant information, identify training news and provide appropriate supervision in their workplace
- Take a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Degree or Diploma in occupational Safety Management or related field
- Expert -minimum 8 years of job related experience required
- Must have had minimum 8 years experience in the field of occupational health and safety
- Must have established a good external network in this area

Essential
- Knowledge of SMS, 18001, 14001, systems and implementation
- Knowledge of SMS, application and implementation in a manufacturing operation
- Project planning, training and coaching experience
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
- Strong team player and problem-solving skills
- Adaptable to meet customer expectations while ensuring legal compliance
