Merchandiser / Buyer - Qatar

Qatar is booming and the retail sector is following suit. Our client, a leading retailer and wholesaler is currently experiencing rapid growth and is seeking an experienced Merchandiser/Buyer to manage the planning and selection of the range of products to sell in the companys retail outlets.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:
- Planning and selecting a range of products to sell in the retail outlets, taking in to consideration; customer demand, including price, quality and availability; Market trends; Store policy; from a merchandising and display point of view and Financial budgets (Sales Forecast, Purchase Budget, OTB calculation).
- Analyzing consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends.
- Regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as Sales Detailed Sell Through %s and Discount levels and other merchandise performance reports.
- Managing plans for stock levels and allocation per stores; which will involve performing merchandise transfers in-between different locations to ensure faster sell-through.
- Sets or recommends mark-up rates, mark-down rates, and selling prices for merchandise.
- Ensure that all stocks at warehouse being monitored and introduced to store on-time.
- Reacting to changes in demand and logistics.
- Meeting suppliers and negotiating terms of contract.
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products.
- Liaising with other departments within the organization to ensure projects are completed;
- Attending trade fairs, either locally or overseas, to select and assemble a new collection of products.
- Provides clerks with information, as price, mark-ups or mark-downs, manufacturer number, season code, and style number for System Update.
- Participating in promotional activities.
- Liaise with visual merchandiser, needed highlights products / introductions to stores / Brand Campaigns.
- Liaise with Social Media Channels, Website, E-Commerce and Customer Service, highlighted products / introductions to stores / Brand Campaigns and/or offers.
- Writing reports and forecasting sales levels.
- Presenting new ranges to Concept Manager.
- Liaising with shop personnel to ensure supply meets demand.
- Getting feedback from customers and store staff.
- Training and mentoring junior staff.
- Attend to all other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Management or equivalent qualification is required.
- 6+ years experience in a similar role.
- Comprehensive understanding of fashion/retail merchandising.
- Prior supervising/managing experience is required.
- Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
