Project / Associate Director - Building Services - Qatar

The Associate Director role is accountable for the operational performance, technical and people leadership of their team and discipline projects across the business. The role holder will also be responsible for the Project Director (PD) role for selected multi or single disciplinary projects. The role holder must take a `hands on` approach to all aspects of the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Leadership
- Responsible for the leadership and support of their team
- Ensure that Health and Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies
- Ensure the right resources are utilised effectively at the right time across their team and projects. 
- Input into the recruitment and selection process
- Conduct meaningful inductions, performance management reviews and personal development plans that support the development of individuals and the business
- Contribute to succession planning and career development across their team
- Support the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions as required
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Business Unit (BU) strategy
- Attend and lead team and project meetings, cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from team
- Input into setting and delivering PandL BU budget and forecasts
- Lead by example and ensure Project Lifecycle compliance across their team and projects.
- Provide guidance and support the companies approach to Sustainability and ensure that the Sustainability strategy is implemented across the team

Business Development
- Contribute to business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions
- Actively develop external and internal client relationships
- Proactively co sell other company services and where applicable the wider business
- Contribute to the Key Account Management programmes, with the aim of increasing client intelligence to develop win solutions and support unique selling points for prospects.
- Support the `Prospect to Project Process` for lead projects and overseeing the process for direct reports 
- Act as Prospect Manager on selected projects
- Provide technical leadership to respond to prequalification documents, Request for Price (RFPs) and other client inquiries
- Contribute to the financial build-up of resources and lump sum pricing items for prospects where required

Project Leadership 
- To act as PD on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality multi and single disciplinary projects
- Ensure that own projects adhere to Project Lifecycle and that projects led by direct reports adhere to Project Lifecycle
- Support the formation of the contractual relationship between the business and the client; taking the process from proposal to contract, utilising the advice of the support functions
- Engage with the CRCs at the Prospect stage through to completion to ensure the most cost efficient delivery of their projects.
- Ensure proactive project planning, stakeholder and risk management takes place across projects
- Supervise the team to identify, assess and manage major project risk and secure the best commercial return from the projects in their portfolio
- To ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met
- Support the delivery of project PandL budgets, forecasts and working capital targets for own projects and projects led by direct reports
- Support the accurate and timely recognition of revenue for own projects and projects led by direct reports
- Support the overseeing and delivery of the process of working capital management from inception to completion within set deadlines; This includes the timing of invoicing, the review of Work in Progress (WIP) and the collection of outstanding invoices from clients whilst utilising the advice of the support functions as necessary
- Contribute to the completion of monthly management project reports to be issued by set deadline
- Attend and contribute in PLT meetings as required

Technical
- Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline and understand and appreciate the basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines
- Develop the technical capabilities of direct reports
- Lead technical solutions on projects

Requirements

- BEng /BSc (Hon) degree or equivalent discipline in Electrical Engineering with minimum 13 years post graduate experience
- Member of associated Professional body 
- CEng preferred although not essential
- Experience and proven ability to lead and manage an engineering team and multi-disciplinary projects
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office
- Comprehensive experience of technical design and associated discipline software
- UPDA "A" would be desirable

The salary will be 55,000-65,000QAR per month + benefits.
