Project Director - Infrastructure

Job description / Role

We are currently looking for an Infrastructure Director - Construction for a major heavy civil infrastructure program in Qatar. Scope includes roads, bridges, tunnels, irrigation networks, utilities, landscaping and other related infrastructure. Successful candidates will be roads and highways focused, and have a proven track record in delivery infrastructure for mega land development construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will be involved in project planning, co-ordination and management for one of the major packages throughout construction phase.
- Manage a team of several Project Managers and Construction Managers to ensure smooth operations. Resource planning and attending site meetings with Clients and provide advice on the designing work. Provide overall direction and management to the Project and Construction Managers for the different sub packages.
- Monitor on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations; monitor risks/problems and helps develop options to resolve.

The Project Director also assists in planning and defining program goals; and the strategy to ensure they are met. Most importantly the Senior Project Manager represents the client’s interests.

Requirements

A Civil Engineering degree is preferred), chartered status (preferred) and at least 15+ years of construction project delivery work experience is required. 8 to 10 years’ experience as Project Director on $1 billion+ heavy civil construction projects. Incumbent should have a broad general technical and business background. Fluent in both written/verbal English communication skills, Arabic an advantage.

Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify potential problems and propose solutions. Ability to manage large teams, organize and prioritize work. Experience in Microsoft applications. Ability to write reports.
