Position Overview

The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the delivery of the projects assigned to him/her by the Project Director. He/she will be responsible for the project from the development of the project brief, through concept design, preliminary design, detail design, preparation of project documents, tendering and tender evaluation. He/she will coordinate with the Design Team Leaders for Roads, Structures, Utilities and Drainage to ensure the on-time delivery of the project(s), within budget, meeting the required quality standards and ensuring that the Gateway approvals have been obtained from the client before moving to the next stage

Specific Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall delivery of the projects assigned to him/her against agreed scope and baseline schedule.
• Responsible for schedule, budget, quality, risk, value engineering, constructability, QA and independent design checks and safety covering all aspects of design and tendering.
• Works with other managers, design team leaders, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of the project.
• Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
• Works with the key project individuals to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
• Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.
• Monitors and reports to the Project Director on the progress of all project activities within the program, including significant milestones, KPIs and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
• Establishes weekly meetings to review project status and formulate action items.

Requirements

Desired Qualification/Experience

• BSc Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree.
• Chartered/professional engineer is preferred.
• Min. of 15 years postgraduate relevant working experience in design of roads, drainage & utilities.
• Regional experience is preferred.
• A qualified professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
• Leads in the formulation of advanced technical concepts.
• Provides specialist services in support of project requirements.
• Independently performs highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialized principles.
• Proven ability to perform in a management capacity.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required. Also, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
