Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose: To procure the best possible materials/supplies at the best possible price. The Purchasing Officer is responsible for all the goods and services that are purchased by the Company. Sources vendors, negotiates contracts, discounts, payment terms and ensures prompt delivery.

The Purchasing Officer assists in the development and implementation of a corporate purchasing policy to effect the best value for money arrangements available.

Also, he/she participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of procurement policies, regulations, laws and contractual compliance.

Functions:
- Sources new vendors for better quality products/items as well as better prices.
- Evaluates the documents submitted by the vendors for accreditation purposes (supplying the best quality and offering the best price).
- Obtains quotations (at least 3) and negotiates with vendors to get better prices, deals, terms, discounts and confers with vendors to ensure prompt delivery.
- Ensures that all vendor contracts are duly approved by the Financial Controller and the General Manager before execution.
- Supervises necessary demonstration of supplies and equipment and distributes procured items.
- Prepares/reviews purchase requisitions and orders for accuracy and ensures compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Develops master files, templates, forms and check lists to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing department.
- Develops, coordinates and implements systems, procedures and controls to ensure and effective centralized purchasing.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility and loyalty to the Company by adhering to corporate principles of business conduct especially in relation to conflict of interest.

Requirements

- Graduate of any four (4) year course
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a related capacity
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures of purchasing and inventory control
- Must have numerical competence together with a good working knowledge of inventory systems and Microsoft packages.
- Trustworthy and with strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have valid Qatar Driving License
- Must have NOC/ Transferable visa
