Quantity Surveyor - Doha, Qatar

Continued project growth of our client’s firm, a general contracting Qatari conglomerate, has created the opportunity to recruit Quantity Surveyors to manage the post contract duties for civil and infrastructure projects in Qatar on projects valued up to USD500M. You will assist in driving commercial success through contract negotiations, governance, risk management, dispute and claim management and commercial strategy.

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, this role is responsible for the following:
- Monitoring all site activities and costs for infrastructure and civil projects.
- Preparing and agreeing payments applications/valuations so that payment is received in accordance with the terms of the contract conditions; Works progress.
- Maintain logs for claims and agreeing variations/change orders.
- Preparing and compiling variation claim documents.
- Analyze and recommend Subcontractor payment based on actual progress.
- Attend progress meetings and provide updates to Client with projection of costs as required; Visit Site as and when required to monitor progress, Preparing Payment Application / progress payment claim against Value of Work done for measured works, Variations/Change orders, Material On-Site/Off-Site, Fluctuations, Special payments in accordance with contract.
- Prepare measured works and quantity take-offs.
- Preparation of interim valuations and assisting in preparing final accounts.
- Reconciliation of materials and works executed.
- Maintaining all QS documents and logs.
- Preparation of claims as required.
- Monitoring progress of works and ensuring works run smoothly and are within budget.
- Be aware of all aspects of the contract and the precise scope of work and ensure that the Project Management teams are aware and comply with contractual requirements.
- Analyse financial and costing reports, highlighting existing or potential problems and make recommendations as appropriate to manager.

Requirements

- Degree qualification in Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commerce/Law, Construction Management or Engineering.
- Minimum 5 + years’ experience in the commercial and contractual aspects of lump sum EPC, D&C on civil / infrastructure construction projects
- Must be experienced and proficient in using BIM (Building Information Modelling).
- Good knowledge of subcontract interpretation, compliance and governance and managing contractual disputes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others is important for this role.
