Rail Systems & Track Work - Contracts Manager

Job description / Role

Menasa and Partners is currently conducting a search for Contracts Manager – Rail Systems & Track Work to join a Project Management Consultancy for a major rail systems design and build project in Qatar.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial and Contracts Manager on the project, the Contracts Manager Rail Systems & Track will be responsible contract formation, contracts administration, contracts management and variation orders related to the Rail Systems and Track work contracts on the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for contract formation and review, monitor, evaluate and report on the Contract, pre and post contract correspondence, and Engineer’s delegated powers, procurement of provisional sums.
- Responsible for issuance of variation orders and issuance of payment recommendations to the Engineer.
- The Contracts Manager shall advise on any instances where the Engineer is in breach of the contractual obligations or where the Engineer is not complying fully with their contractual obligations.

Requirements

- University degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Law or a related discipline.
- At least 15 years of total work experience, predominantly related to large rail systems (signalling/train control systems/electrification) and/or track work design and build projects.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as Contracts Manager on a large rail systems or track work design and build project.
- Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and the formation/administration of prime contracts.
- Incumbent must also possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of PC software packages typically associated with contracts administration.
- Proven ability to perform in a management capacity is also required.
