As an Academic Health System the Corporation would like to employ staff who contribute to the mission and vision of the Corporation. Research is a key and integral component to this vision and the postholder must be able to contribute to an Integrated strategic vision and planning for Clinical, Research and Education and training. Working under routine supervision with general direction, this position is responsible for performing a range of research related activities in support and delivery of research outcomes including administrative, financial and other activities associated with the research program. The research assistant will be responsible for the coordination of multiple research projects being conducted across the emergency Care network.The postholder will also be required to lead on and undertake educational and training programs.

This position will contribute to the research program by performing a range of research related tasks which may include any of the following:
- Assist in the conduct of research protocols including preparation, sampling, data collection and analysis and preparation of results and reports;
- Assist in the preparation of documentation (e.g. for grant applications, research and conference papers) requiring the conducting of literature reviews and/or analysis of data;
- Provide administrative and financial management support for research projects and programs including the maintenance and use of electronic and paper based information systems, data bases, websites and records;
- Maintain equipment and materials including the disposal of waste and ordering of supplies;
- Keep informed of developments, activities and protocols in area of expertise through liaison with staff and peers, reading relevant literature and attendance at meetings and seminars;
- Comply with organizational policy, procedure and protocols in relation to the nature of the research being conducted;
- Other duties as required within the scope of the classification of this position

The post holder will be required to adhere to research legislative and regulatory requirements including HMC and SCH policies, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization - Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP).

Requirements

- A degree in a relevant area (for example BSc, MPH, Bioststistics), from a recognized university
- Preferred Education: Masters in a relevant field such as clinical research or Nursing.
- 3 years experience as research assistant with subsequent relevant work research and/or hospital experience or a combination of research or hospital experience and training,
- Preferred Experience: 5 years experience in a team with externally funded grants.
- Demostrated knowledege ofInternational Conference on Harmonization – Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) or similar international standards is preferred.

Language Skills: English (intermediate)
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office suite

- Planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and set and meet deadlines
- computer literacy and proficiency in the production of high level work using software such as Microsoft Office applications and specified University software programs, with the capability and willingness to learn new packages as appropriate
- awareness of the principles of confidentiality, privacy and information handling
- The position may be required to work evening and/or night shifts and travel to campuses other than Hamad General Hospital if required by the research projects being conducted.
