Employment: Full Time

The Resident Engineer will manage the co-ordination and delivery of a project to meet time quality and budgetary targets, whilst meeting or exceeding Clients’ expectations.

We’re looking for a Resident Engineer who can create real value for our clients. So you’ll need to be a strong communicator, able to get a team of consultants working together effectively to deliver the results of our clients need.

The main duties of the Resident Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Manage project, own work, team to meet time constraints
- Assist in contract administration
- Maintain risk register and relevant supporting files
- Liaising with and advising the client on construction issues
- Lead point of contact, co-ordination of consultants in all disciplines both within the project and of the interface with adjoining projects.
- Issue construction information as required
- Co-ordinate disciplines & resolves issues in a timely manner
- Liaison with relevant Project Leaders/Team Leaders/Site Staff ensuring all parties are kept informed of all relevant matters in relation to the project
- Providing technical advice to the Project Leader/ Senior Resident Engineer with respect to the assigned work on the project, checking project deliverables for which the Engineers are responsible, including drawings and reports
- Ensure thorough review & prompt response to correspondence, RFIs and submissions
- Liaise with authorities, and ensure that ROs, NOCs and permits schedule is maintained
- Champion site safety, and follow up identified risks
- Convene and chair regular site meetings
- Monitor construction progress and provide regular report
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of records
- Provide final approval of the completed works and arrange Hand-over documents
- Provide guidance and support to other team members to improve their knowledge, performance, motivation and skills

Requirements

- Successful completion of Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised education institution
- Minimum experience of 15 years or more
- Previous experience in Reservoirs and water supply, large scale projects
- Has an understanding of both civil and mechanical issues
- Knowledge of BS design standards
- Familiarity of FIDIC and contract administration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to identify potential problems and propose solutions
- Organised and innovative
- Ability to lead a site based team of mixed nationalities
- Ability to build rapport with work colleagues
- Ability to use computers (i.e. Microsoft applications)
