Job description / Role
Road Design Engineer - Doha, Qatar
- Perform as a member of the Ashghal Asset Affairs Roads Operations and Maintenance Department.
- Liaise and coordinate on technical matters with the various Ashghal Departments & PMC’s.
- Liaison with the various Division heads and / or Senior staff within AA to ensure conformity to the overall plan and to highlight conflicts
- Constantly review current design practice and where necessary modify to suite, subject to management approval.
- Constantly review current specifications and apply new technology to such specifications, constant update of codes and standards subject to management approval.
- Acquaint themselves with the administration procedures of the PWA.
- Review designs and audit design in terms of quality and conformance to the relevant standards and specifications.
- Offer technical advice on project relevant matters.
- Coordinate and follow-up and update the design programme.
- Assist in the preparation of periodic reports.
- Liaise with utilities providers and other stake holders.
- Have a good knowledge of relevant studies and Design Software.
- Road Safety Improvement schemes from junction redesign to improvements in geometry, signing and lining.

- Sound written and verbal communication skills in English Language together with interpersonal skills;
- Ability to maintain a pro-active and organized approach; and
- Good attention to detail coupled with the ability to focus on the wider objectives.
- Design Engineers shall additionally have the following experience requirements.
- Participated in the development, Planning and design of major schemes. Middle East experience will be advantageous.
- Extensive experience in the design and construction of road improvement schemes, large road networks and utility systems within his discipline.
- Knowledge in innovative technology and systems.
- Have a good knowledge in rehabilitation and refurbishment of existing roads.
- Knowledge in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental control procedures and design requirements
- Experience in projects involving government departments; public and private organizations.
Requirements
- BS or MS graduate of an engineering discipline.
- Over 10 years’ experience.
- Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred.
