Road Safety Auditor, Doha, Qatar
Reporting into Design Team Leader, as Road Safety Auditor you will be performing as a member of the client’s Asset Affairs Roads Operations and Maintenance Department. Although the position is primarily office based, 20% of the time will be spent in the field.
The Road Safety Auditor will report to the Design Team Leader, although the role is office based an estimated 20% of your time will be spent in the field. You will undertake the following:-
- Performing Traffic and highway design including geometric road design, signs, markings, and road furniture and safety barriers
- Independently prepare reports, lead, and carry out safety audits on a wide variety of highway scheme types, including temporary traffic diversions, major highways, intersections, vulnerable road users, traffic signals, local areas traffic management, and temporary traffic management schemes.
- Performing Accident investigation, analysis of collision data, and prepare prevention studies with evaluation and remedial measures to avoid accidents
- Preparing, reviewing and approving traffic management plans and traffic diversions during construction
- Attending and managing traffic management coordination meetings with designers, contractors, clients and other stakeholders
- Perform safety assessments and operational risk assessments on operational transport premises such as industrial sites, warehouses, airports, etc
- Carrying out other types of project work as necessary including, for example, accessibility audit work, detailed collision / casualty research with associated statistical analysis, the development of road safety and speed management plans, Quality Audits, road user audits and highway improvement / traffic management design work
Requirements
As a successful candidate you will be qualified to degree level and ideally chartered along with more than 10 years of experience in road safety auditing, road design, traffic/transportation engineering, and temporary traffic management.
- The ideal candidate will be a current accredited/registered Road Safety Auditor
- Road safety audit training certifications from internationally recognized institutions within the last five years are accepted as well
- Have performed at least eight road safety audits as a road safety auditor or under the guidance of an Accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor where five of the audits must have been either feasibility, concept/preliminary, detailed design, pre-opening, or monitoring/existing roads stage audits
- Experience in projects involving government departments; public and private organizations
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of roads
- Good stakeholder engagement skills
- Have a good knowledge in rehabilitation and refurbishment of existing road works
- Experience in data collection and analysis with regard to traffic count, traffic management and road works
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Middle East experience will be advantageous but not essential.
