Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Coordinates key activities related to the company Health & Safety Mgt system and the implementation of requirements resulting from company’s relevant certification according to OHSAS18001. Focuses on Risk Assessment, Contractor HSE Management, Audit planning and follow up, Incident Investigations and Safety training.

Ensures a proper follow up of all related programs and initiatives. Acts as the owner for planning of any safety training at technical or corporate level. Supervises a team of HSE specialists to deliver the above mentioned objectives.
- Refines and implements health and safety programs and systems as directed by his supervisor
- Drives together with his team regular job site safety inspections and conducts special studies and investigations related to safety and health for the company.
- Provides support to all company departments regarding safety training.
- Aims to enhance incident investigation and sharing learnings approach
- Drives any actions that create a robust Contractor HSE Mgt system
- Acts as primary resource for Occupational Risk Assessment activities
- Responsible for OHSAS procedures and works with his team to facilitate updates
- Monitors national regulations and other international requirements on safety aspects and provides guidance on business impacts from any relevant updates
- Provides guidance for deployment of safe work practices during major maintenance activities
- Allocates his resources in an efficient way so as to cover implementation, monitoring and follow up for critical elements of occupational Safety
- Provides systematic update to his supervisor about progress of all activities and programs related with occupational Safety
- Liaises with Environment, Health and Process Safety function supervisors to prevent duplication of efforts and secure a common output from HSE department towards the objective of accidents elimination
- Works jointly with Mgt Representative to incorporate any safety audits into the corporate internal audit scheme.
- Ensures his staff is trained and competent to deal with continuous development in the business and HSE developments
- Follows all relevant HSE quality controlled procedures and instructions so that personnel safety and the safety of others is not jeopardised and a minimum level of product / service quality and environmental impact can be guaranteed.
- Follows up (jointly with Operations) Health & Safety programs resulting from implementation of OHSAS18001 standard
- Advises on training requirements to establish a baseline level of HSE competence across all company staff
- Works together with Fire Service Officer to achieve improvements in Emergency Response arrangements
- Supports his supervisor in preparing for Mgt reviews of H&S Mgt system
- Acts as member of internal Committees for Occupational Health & Safety
- Assists in ensuring that short and long term department objectives are achieved

Requirements

- Minimum technical diploma or college degree in engineering, occupational safety or industrial hygiene and
- Professional Safety certification or specialised HSE training or membership of a recognized HSE institution (e.g., NEBOSH)
Minimum Experience:
- 10 years’ plant experience in heavy industry / manufacturing or process industry.
- 6 years’ experience working within HSE Function and leading safety programs
