Safety Officer - Highways

Job description / Role

We are seeking a Safety Officer for a Major Highway Project in Doha, Qatar. The SH&E Officer will be responsible for monitoring project contractor's compliance with project requirements, local safety regulations and the contractor's own SH&E plan.

Duties Include;
- Serving as the field point of contact for monitoring and maintaining compliance with contractors' own SH&E Policies and plans.
- Undertaking daily visual inspections, reporting issues and submitting an observation report to the Contractor via project reporting system.
- Follow-up the close-out of same with Contractor.
- Attending site SH&E meetings.
- Submit safety inspection reports as directed by the Resident Engineer / Project Manager.
- Check SH&E requirements in method statements, risk assessments and permit to work procedures submitted by the Contractor.
- Check that all agreed SH&E standards and applicable SH&E regulations are observed.
- Check appropriate maintenance, calibration and operation of all safety equipment.
- Check site security, fire, first aid and welfare facilities and procedures appropriate to the works are provided and adequately maintained.
- Assist in the Investigation of all accidents and dangerous occurrences and report in accordance with the Client requirements and AECOM procedures.
- Set a high personal example of Health & Safety at all items.

Requirements

Preferred designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP / CMIOSH) or working towards this.

3 years related experience in appropriate discipline with special emphasis on SH&E duties on construction related operations. Middle East experience preferred.

Specific Skills;
- Excellent working knowledge of industry practises/safety/quality management systems.
- Up to date knowledge of all issues relating to Safety, Health and Environment in the Middle East.
- Ability to communicate in a practical manner at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to deliver training for all staff on the project.
- Can work alone and in a team environment.

MAX SALARY: 15K QAR all inclusive
