Safety Supervisors (Airside) - Hamad International Airport - Doha

Responsible for monitoring activities at the airside ensuring that all airside handlers and operators adhere to and implement the airside safety programs of Doha International Airport. Ensures the airside infrastructure and facilities are in a safe and orderly condition and in compliance with national and ICAO standards.

- Conduct regular inspection and audits of the airside particularly the runway, taxiway, aprons and the service roads.
- Conduct fault/deficiency reporting to ensure that all faults or deficiencies are actually reported and track progress of rectification.
- Ensure adherence to appropriate aerodrome safety practices by all airport tenants and users.
- Monitor adherence to the airside safety driving rules and issue traffic citations/penalties for violations.
- Direct traffic at intersections of service roads and taxiways and in congested and emergency areas.
- Respond to airside accidents involving aircraft, vehicles, persons, properties and emergency alerts; investigate, analyze and submit detailed report including recommended solutions to prevent their recurrence.
- Coordinate and supervise the initial response to airport emergencies involving aircraft or vehicular accidents and other safety issues on the airport.
- Regularly inspect fire gadgets at the terminal facilities and coordinate servicing requirements with HIA Maintenance.
- Participate in emergency, crash and rescue exercises.
- Communicate with ATC particularly on activities involving movement areas such as crossing of runway and airside construction work.
- Monitor proper disposal of FOD and rubbish at designated waste containers.
- Monitor airside construction works to ensure that all safety requirements are strictly observed by the contractor.
- Monitor fuel spillage and immediately report incident to Airport Fire Service and HIA Maintenance so that clean up procedures are immediately conducted.
- Monitor runway to prevent possible runway incursions.
- Conduct terminal building fire safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Respond to emergency situations as directed by radio, telephone, or observation.
- Submit written reports/records and maintain data on appropriate files.
- Monitor activities of airport tenants and users ensuring that they comply with HIA safety standards.
- Perform routine security patrol of airport grounds and perimeter fence.

Requirements

- College or university education qualifications
- Attended airline safety and security training courses
- Attended airline operations courses i.e. passenger, ramp and cargo
- At least 3 years experience within the aviation industry either within airline operations or the aerodrome environment.
- Experience of handling airline/airport safety operations functions would be preferred

Preferably:
- Attended training on fire fighting and operations of fire fighting equipment and training on first aid.
- Certification and proficiency in aeronautical radio communications

Job Specific Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations and procedures
- Good knowledge of airline ramp operations, policies and procedures, and cargo restricted articles
- Good knowledge of aircraft technology, navigation and meteorology
- Ability to read, understand and interpret ordinances, laws and operating procedures
- A good knowledge of aircraft types
- Ability to coordinate emergency situations and to respond appropriately
- A good understanding of ICAO standards and recommended practices (SARPS) on airport operations and safety
- A good understanding of CAA regulations
- A good understanding of the principles of supervision and management of people
- Good administration and office skills
- Ability to communicate proficiently in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to courteously and tactfully communicate and relate with superiors, peers and other employees
- A good standard of computer literacy
