Job description / Role
We are looking for a Senior Architect who will manage the overall design process aligned to project deliverables and gateways. The ideal candidate will inform and deliver the Design Strategy to enable the client to make timely and effective decisions as well as constructability to shape the procurement strategy and deliver programme value.
- Establish protocols and mechanisms to create an environment where the design and engineering communities can drive integration and innovation.
- Establish and implement a set of integrated policies, procedures, tools and systems to consistently execute, monitor and measure design across the programme.
- Coordinate interfaces and provide continuity across programme.
- Interpret the strategic brief into project specific design briefs.
- Be consistent in approach to design, establishing deliverables by project stage.
- Define roles and responsibilities for the design team.
- Enable the client to make value decisions relating to design choices.
- Establish business and functional requirements to be met by the design (linked to requirements management).
- Audit design and design development processes.
- Prepare design management strategies.
- Introduce design stages and deliverables.
- Review Consultants detailed design programmes.
- Review design team structure and resource against project and milestone requirements.
- Ensure design team is suitably resourced.
- Document the design, ensuring consistency in versioning.
- Lead decision making within Design Management Team where necessary.
- Monitor the development of design in relation to function, quality, cost, and programme in relation to the Strategic Brief, its evolution through the use of design development tracking tools into a Project Brief and ultimately Final Design.
- Monitor progress against design programme, identify areas of slippage, delay or conflict and review consultants plan to mitigate.
- Audit completeness of design information through gap analysis and design validation reports.
- Establish task ownership within the design team.
- Produce added value by contribution to development of the design.
- Produce, review and implement employer requirement documents.
- Act as technical advisor to the client.
- Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline, other disciplines and engineering innovations, and developments on a global scale.
- Initiate and support the technical capabilities of the team.
- Maintain contact with key technical leaders.
- Lead technical solutions on projects.
- Drive innovation and utilise technological advancement
- Contribute to and lead design peer reviews in alignment with the QMS system.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or relevant engineering degree
- Minimum 15 years’ post-degree experience
- Chartered Architect or Engineer preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience gained working in Middle East
- Experience and proven ability to lead and manage an engineering team and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Proven ability to lead a design team
- Proven ability as a technical advisor to the client
- Experience in producing, reviewing and implementing employer required documents
- Experience of MS Office Suite of Programmes, CAD, P6, and BIM
- Comprehensive experience in associated discipline software
- Existing Programme/Project Management Skills, e.g., MSP or PRINCE
