We are now recruiting experienced Senior Consultants Intensive Care / Aero-medical, flying with patients around the world (UK/Europe/USA/East Asia).

This post is within our Ambulance Service; your main responsibility will be the retrieval of patients.

LifeFlight is used for fast transit from emergency scenes to our hospitals. All of our helicopters are equipped with the latest advanced life support medical equipment and carry two medical crew and two pilots. The efficiency of the Ambulance Service is an important element in providing critical care to patients, especially those who are not in the close vicinity of the city.

You will work within Medical ICU on a rotational basis for approximately 50% of the time.

The Ambulance Service fulfills an essential role for the people of Qatar - a life-saving one. Every incident that the Ambulance Service attends offers different challenges, in terms of the injuries faced, the number of people affected, the location and the support required. The Ambulance Service receives more than 100,000 calls each year that 1,454 staff, 167 ambulances, 20 rapid response vehicles and our fleet of helicopters respond to.

The Ambulance Service is accredited by the Joint Commission International and its Medical Communication Center has been named an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE).

Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a specialized section of Al Khor Hospital providing comprehensive and continuous care for patients who are critically ill or in an unstable condition. The unit manages critically ill patients admitted under various specialties such as trauma and cardiology.

Healthcare professionals who work in the ICU provide around-the-clock intensive monitoring and treatment of patients seven days a week. Services for unstable to critically ill patients are determined by guidelines formulated for staff to ensure that the criteria for admission and discharge to the Intensive Care Unit are comprehensible.

Our facilities are state-of-the-art with common, private and isolation beds, providing specialized monitoring equipment and constant access to highly trained nurses with a high degree of medical expertise. These nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) and Immediate Life Support (ILS).

The ICU has an in-house 24 hour specialist who responds to all emergency calls in the hospital. The department attends to approximately 50 patients per month.

Requirements

We are looking for enthusiastic Consultants who have had exposure of:
- Aero-medical repatriation
- Inter-hospital transfer
- Intensive Transport
- Anesthesiology
- Intensive Care

Candidates should be flexible and willing to work as part of a growing team. You will work with a team of world class professionals such as other consultants, fellows, specialty nurses and technologists.

We expect our Senior Consultant to have:
- Primary medical degree from a recognized medical school
- CCST specialist register and fellowship of a College of Anaesthetists or equivalent
- 5 years work experience after graduation from primary degree
- 6 years work experience as a Critical Care Senior Consultant
