Senior Drainage Design Engineer

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Responsible for the management of feasibility studies and design work relating to major drainage projects in Qatar, particularly strategic surface water tunnels, pumping stations and marine outfalls.
- Responsible for technical reviews of drainage proposals associated with new expressways and our Local Roads and Drainage programme.
- Preparation of design briefs and management of external design consultants and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of high quality designs to agreed timescales and budgets.
- To liaise with the planning authority and other government departments and utility providers to achieve project approvals from external stakeholders.
- To continuously review current design standards and specifications and update in accordance with best practice.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from recognized university in US, Western Europe or Australia.
- Chartered Civil Engineer with at least 20 years experience in the design and operation of major drainage systems.
- At least 10 years experience in the design of drainage tunnels including segmental tunnel construction in a marine environment.
- Experience of preparing drainage masterplans / drainage area plans.
- Familiar with computer modelling of drainage networks using InfoWorks software.
- Experience in real time control, flood mitigation and prevention, and day to day operation of complex drainage systems which include: large diameter drainage networks, major pumping stations, attenuation facilities and flow controls.
- Familiar with civil engineering contract procedures and standard international forms of contract.
- Fluency in English language is essential.
- Middle East Experience is an advantage.
