Senior Project Manager - Doha, Qatar

Our client is a Qatari holding group with world standard operations across diversified business interests including oil and gas and property and real estate. The firm’s property and real estate arm has national and international projects comprising hotels, resorts, shopping centers and residential sub divisions. They now wish to appoint a Senior Project Manager to their development team to act as the client’s representative to manage the client’s risk, project and financial returns of a key project. The project is a Residential Compound project comprising 500+ villas, 2 clubhouses and mosques and community areas. The project is currently under construction but this role will role on to other numerous projects that the firm has in concept stage.
Reporting to the CEO, the performer we seek for this role will be responsible for the following:
- Procurement, implementation and completion of a range of Design and Construction packages for the firm in Qatar.
- Overseeing and implementing Construction Packages, Construction Schedules and Project Cash flows.
- Provide senior level strategic advice and recommendation to the CEO and other senior members within the firm regarding development opportunities, feasibilities, project scopes, budgets and project delivery.
- Manage the internal Project Team, all external Consultants, Stakeholders and any other related parties to establish and maintain the Company’s vision and expectations in terms of project design, standards, code compliance, quality and cost parameters.
- Develop and implement Project Design Briefs and Development requirements.
- Oversee the development of specific design packages, design meetings and milestone delivery intervals in company with the Project Manager and Senior Design Manager.
- Provide direction to senior team members (Senior Commercial Manager, Project Manager and Senior Design Manager) as required to maintain design and delivery milestones.
- Direct the Senior Commercial Manager and liaise with the Group CFO, in respect of project cost management, reporting and payment systems and procedures.
- Liaise with the Project Manager regarding requirements for additional studies, reviews, research, investigations, surveys, tests as required to optimize project design, implementation and delivery outcomes.
- Prepare regular Progress Reports pertaining to the Qatar based projects for senior management review and record.
- Chair regular progress meetings with the Development Team and implement joint directives with respect to project scope and delivery requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Architecture, Project Management, Engineering, Construction or comparable with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in Design, Engineering and/or Project Management.
- Minimum 10 years demonstrated experience in Project Management and Project Delivery.
- Proven experience with delivery and management of a range of large scale developments, design or construction projects.
- Proven experience as a Senior Client Representative and must be assertive to meet project deadlines.
- Extensive written and oral skills with demonstrated senior leadership qualities.
- Proven construction and contract management experience, implementation of risk management procedures and management of project budgets and cash flows.
- Ideally candidates that are bilingual in English and Arabic will be highly regarded.
