Job description / Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor shall be responsible for all QS and contractual matters related to the execution of the construction contract including but not limited to payment certificates, claims, variation orders, etc.
Provide assistance to the team during negotiations, arbitration or any other forms of dispute resolution.
Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems. Interface with clients, attend regular meetings, and give statistical reports.
Understands and applies engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships. Develops and maintains critical path logic networks and bar charts utilizing this information.
Customizes project control systems to meet specific project requirements.
May supervise one or more lower-level QS and/or support personnel. Provides input to Chief or Principal Project Control Engineer / Specialist regarding staffing requirements. May provide input for performance review of subordinates.
Requirements
Degree in Quantity Surveying from an accredited internationally recognized university and must be qualified and chartered (QS) by a recognized international body such as Chartered Institute of Buildings (CIOB) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or as approved by the Engineer.
Must have a minimum of 15 years experience in dealing with major highway construction projects. Experience in claims / arbitration procedures and methods are a requirement.
Must have experience in the planning of major projects with particular emphasis on the utilization of computer programs such as Primavera or equally capable program for the planning and tracking of similar projects is a requirement. Computer literacy and excellent communication skills are essential.
