Employment: Full Time

The Senior Safety Engineer is part of the shared services team and will be providing all necessary assistance to the construction supervision team with respect to all safety, health and environmental issues. The SSE will review and approve the safety plans of the contractor and he will monitor the safety of the works and the safety of the traffic diversions and ensure compliance with the regulations.

Job Description:
- Leads the development of the Project Safety Plan (PSP).
- Supports the SRE and RE’s in implementing the PSP.
- Advise on potential hazards at work site.
- Provides the project with health and safety expertise and ensures the project is in compliance with corporate H & S requirements.
- Check safety requirements in the Method Statements and monitor the implementation during construction.
- Check proper maintenance, calibration and operation of all safety equipment.
- Check and ensure that all equipment has been tested by third parties as required and all operators have the proper permits.
- Check the site security, fire, first aid and welfare facilities and ensure that all procedures appropriate to the Works are provided and properly maintained.
- Check and ensure that all agreed safety standards and applicable regulations are observed.
- Carry out and record regular site safety inspections.
- Assist and participate in site safety training.
- Investigate all accidents and dangerous occurrences.
- Review and develop ‘Permit to Work’ procedures.
- Set a high personal example of Health & Safety at all times;
- Monitor the application of all safety requirements by Parsons Construction team and report to the SRE any deficiency for corrective action.
- Coordinate with the construction team on all activities undertaken by the Contractor with respect to safety requirements especially for traffic management, deep excavation, movement of equipments, etc.
- Report any deficiency to the SRE for corrective action.
- Convene, participate and chair all safety related meetings as directed by the SRE.
- Review the Contractor safety reports and produce Parsons Safety reports for the SRE review and approval.
- Coordinate all safety issues with PWA/PMC and other stakeholders as directed by the SRE.

Requirements

- BSc Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Degree shall be obtained from North America, W. Europe, Australia or equivalent University.
- Chartered Status/Professional License is preferred. Chartered, Licensed or Professional certification shall be obtained from North America, W. Europe, Australia or equivalent.
- Min of 14 postgraduate years of experience and a min. of 5 years of similar work experience on large infrastructure projects.
- Min of 5 years of experience working in North America, W. Europe, Australia or equivalent.
- Regional experience is preferred.
- Qualified professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
- Leads in the formulation of advanced technical concepts.
- Provides specialist services in support of project requirements.
- Independently performs highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialized principles.
