Job description / Role
Responsible for the design review and site supervision of a large residential project in Qatar, you will be Western Educated with confident and articulate communication skills and an ability to drive and deliver projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a Western Consultancy on a permanent basis in a site based role.
- Working for the design consultant, leading the design review and site supervision for the structural element of the build
- Represent the company at client meetings, liaising with the contractor and sub contractors, flagging any design issues, and producing regular reports
- Apply your broad working knowledge of the principles and practices of structural design and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines
- Coordinate technical issues with other departments on the project including constructability requirements and reviews
- Inspecting the contractors work and materials, monitor and record defects and monitor progress against the schedule/programme of works
- Devise new approaches to develop solutions to technical and execution challenges
- Provide technical direction for specific tasks and assign work to other engineers within the team
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering from a Western University
- Additional qualifications in Structural Engineering an advantage
- Ten years + post graduation experience, experience in the GCC an advantage
- A broad technical knowledge of structural design and its implementation including pre-cast concrete residential structures up to five storeys.
- Previous experience in site supervision
- Familiarity with relevant industry and international codes and standards governing Structural design.
- A thorough knowledge of constructability, operability, and maintainability requirements.
- Inherent organizational ability in addition to the ability to communicate effectively when leading the Supervision Team and when representing the company at client meetings
- Be able to produce professional reports and documentation
- Solutions oriented approach to working and able to build professional and positive working relationships both internally and externally
- Able to ‘think on your feet’ and provide innovative and creative solutions
