Senior Traffic Engineer

Job description / Role

The Senior Traffic Engineer will support the Transportation Design Manager in performing design reviews and conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses. Reviews, coordinates and monitors the works of the design consultants, providing different modes of transport and traffic management.

Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Responsible to manage the correct implementation of the project quality plan and quality procedures and productivity related to all traffic-related type works (both highway and arterial networks) in accordance with program of work on construction site.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
• Studies traffic engineering problem.
• Conducts traffic operation analysis and ITS.
• Design & maintain safe roads & highways.
• Design & maintain safe traffic control and flow.
• Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
• Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
• May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
• May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

• BSc degree in Engineering. Advanced degree in ITS highly desirable.
• 12 - 15 years traffic engineering with special focus on ITS.
• Knowledge of traffic analysis tools such as SYNCHRO, VISUM, VISSUM, VISSIM, HCS, CORSIM and other traffic engineering software.
• Ability to review TIA reports.
• Ability to handle output files of VISUM model (check the files using VISUM software).
• Ability to handle output files of SYNCHRO model.
• Proven ability to perform in a technical capacity.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
