Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Senior Urban Designer(s) is a technical leader in their field of expertise with the ability to lead master planning related projects in Country. They need to have good visualization skills and experience of working closely with Clients, as well as the management ability to work with other EMEA AECOM offices providing master plan related services. They will join a multi-disciplined team of master planning related specialists, project and programme managers

- Act as a representative of AECOM in general and more specifically in relation to relevant specialty areas of Planning and Urban Development
- Work with other personnel (both staff and contractors) to complete work in accordance with the budget and timelines for the client.

This will include but is not limited to:
- Attend and lead client briefings and present project stages and work to the client throughout the project;
- Prepare and present urban designs to clients and approving agencies including specific technical expertise in land use planning, landscape architecture and urban design
- Undertake any work in accordance with the scope of the project as agreed by the client and within the associated budget parameters
- Work closely with the client, sub contractors and stakeholders to deliver high quality product in a timely manner.
- Liaise with government departments and other agencies to obtain and verify design standards and criteria, and to secure requisite approvals.
- Attend briefings with the client to review project plans, and resolve any conflicts in design or parameters of the work,
- Ensure accuracy of work in accordance with project scope within project parameters and client.
- Meet with and report to the Business Manager/ project accountant on a regular basis to track project progress against the budget.
- Implement and use AECOM’s QM system within all project work

- Mentor, challenge and grow staff to create a high level of creativity and enthusiasm
- Delegate aspects of projects to team members and oversee their delivery in a timely and accurate manner with agreed quality standards
- In association with the Project Manager and Director, report regularly on project progress.

Requirements

- Preferably first Degree in architecture as well as recognized qualification or Master’s Degree in urban design
- Strong portfolio of built work which demonstrates excellent technical capabilities;
- Proven experience in successfully managing teams, both in country and in remote offices
- Well regarded by peers and direct reports;
- Extensive experience in the design management of projects from proposal development to completion, including periodic project reviews
- Ability to work with Client’s and have good visualization skills
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in area of expertise.
