Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsible for undertaking inspections of sites prior to and during construction activities and completing verification that the prepared site and materials are compatible with the designed permanent works and that there are no impediments or obstructions.
- Inspect site conditions prior to start of construction activities.
- Verify the compatibility of the site with the designed permanent works and check for obstructions. Ensure foundation works are completed in accordance with specifications and relevant building codes and meet the load bearing requirements of the construction.
- Photograph and document the condition of any defects or discrepancies and report to the Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Review materials delivered to site for conformance with approved samples, materials and equipment and report and discrepancies to the Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Witness all tests of concrete and steel to ensure compliance with specifications and relevant building codes.
- Report any deficiencies or discrepancies to the Assistant Resident Engineer with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Inspect the ongoing construction of temporary and permanent works to ensure compliance with the Contract Documents and approved shop drawings and submittals.
- Complete all inspection reports and paperwork in accordance with QA/QC procedures.
- Prepare daily logs and reports.
- Maintain records of inspections made, test performance, work executed, etc.
- Perform all work in accordance with the Contract Administration Procedures Manual and prescribed QA/QC procedures.
- Perform all other duties that may be requested by the Resident Engineer and/or the Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Assist with any Contractors’ Progress Certificate requirements / checking as requested by the Resident Engineer / Assistant Resident Engineer / QS team.
- Assist with the inspection of completed works and help prepare defects or snagging lists as required.
- Observe site safety practices and the progress of the work.
- Report safety concerns to the Assistant Resident engineer or the OH&S Manager.
- Check that materials delivered to site are properly stored and report any discrepancies to the Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Monitor start-up, testing, commissioning and handover of the works.

Requirements

- Bachelor ‘s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Professional registration highly regarded.
- Contemporary knowledge of civil and structural engineering in the context of construction.
- Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and contemporary information control software highly regarded.
- Knowledge of STAAD highly regarded.
- A demonstrated aptitude for learning and accepting challenges.
- A minimum of 10 years experience gained in similar roles in medium to large organizations with exposure to large commercial projects and practical applications.
- Middle East experience is essential.
- Previous experience with a consultant company highly regarded.
