Job description / Role

CLIENT

Linum Consult’s client operates in the Middle East. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Civil or Structural Engineer with good geotechnical experience to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carrying out technical reviews of the contractor’s design submissions
• Coordinating with designers regarding the design solutions chosen by the contractor
• Providing input from a Structural Engineer’s point of view for the value engineering process
• Identifying any risks in the contractor’s structural design
• Identifying the interfaces within the D&B designs (especially shafts, entrances), with regards to the road and traffic layouts, and assessing the feasibility of the road and traffic facilities around these structures
• Conducting a technical review of NOC requests
• Preparing an input and/or reviewing incident investigation reports related to structural, static, and civil issues
• Preparing civil concepts for special tasks and studies for future phases
• Inputting into future tenders from a civils perspective
• Inspecting/auditing the structural designers of the D&B contractors or consultants

Requirements

PROFILE

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Between 8-12 years’ experience working in the civil engineering industry, with a strong background in the structural and geotechnical design for railway or metro construction projects
• Experience of working on international projects
• Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
• Good knowledge of contracts – mainly FIDIC – and other project legislation
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• If you are already based in Doha, you must have an NOC available and fit all the key criteria to apply for this position
