POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs, the student health and wellness coordinator designs, implements, and evaluates programs and activities to support the personal and professional health and well-being of students at WCMC-Q; partners with the academic counselors, psychologist-learning support specialist, and student activities coordinator to promote programs that contribute to personal and professional health and well-being; and liaises with Cornell, Education City, and local community partners on matters related to health and wellness.

POSITION ACTIVITIES:
- Designs, implements, and evaluates programs and activities to support the personal and professional health and well-being of students at WCMC-Q
- Collaborates with the academic counsellors and Psychologist-learning support specialist to coordinate and deliver longitudinal workshops and/or other student training sessions to promote student success
- Collaborates with the student activities coordinator in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote student health and wellness, including service programs, leadership development programs, volunteerism, and other related activities; maintains records as appropriate for these activities.
- Liaises with WCMC-Q faculty, staff, and students as well as affiliate partners including WCMC-New York, Cornell University – Ithaca, Hamad Medical Corporation, Aspetar, HBKU partner universities, and Qatar Foundation, including representation on appropriate student health and wellness committees.
- Collaborates and provides assistance to the Assistant Director and Director as needed with the design and implementation of student orientations and other key student events
- Supports development and maintenance of Student Affairs Office policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and consistency in own area of operations; under guidance of the Director, proposes and implements procedures to ensure office efficiency.
- Provides back-up coverage for team members as directed
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

- BA BS or equivalent degree.
- 5 or more years’ experience in student health and wellness, curricular and extra-curricular issues, health-related matters and/or leadership development.
- Previously demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultures.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Suite of products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Advanced verbal written and English communication and presentation skills.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience in an international healthcare or academic environment.
- Prior experience in the Arabian Gulf region.
- Masters or PhD degree in a health-related or education discipline.
- Fluency in Arabic.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The incumbent will spend 15-20% time in the community and may encounter extreme heat. The remainder is completed in an office environment where approximately 50% is computer based and 50% is desk or office-based.
- The job requires extended and varying work hours to meet demands.
