Technical Manager (Architecture/Design)

Job description / Role

Job Purpose: To ensure the execution of the project to quality, time, and budget, by participating right from the stage of selection of project partners to managing the delivery of the project by effective direction and supervision of the in-house team and the external partners.

 
Responsibilities and Major Activities

Project Delivery Quality:
- Based on the contract specifications and drawings, and in conjunction with other members of the project team, monitor quality standards of the on-going project and ensure the correction/ rectification of identified shortfalls as per the contractual agreements with the consultants, with the objective of ensuring that the completed project is delivered to defined quality standard. The completion of this activity will result in the issuance of a ""Issued For Construction"" Drawings.

Project Delivery Progress:
- Monitor progress of project by getting regular feedback from the project team, and carrying out reviews with the objective of maintaining the project against the milestones indicated in the program, and initiating corrective measures in case of substantial deviations from the schedule, so as to deliver project within the planned time and cost.

Project Delivery Cost:
- Responsible in cooperation with QS for ensuring that project's cost remains within budget allocation by continuously monitoring progress of project vis a vis the cost, correcting any deviations that could lead to over runs from budget.

Project Value Engineering:
- Ensure that the project team is accurately and timely informed about value added/ buildability options for the projects execution. Review value engineering exercises within the project team to ensure that engineered solutions are being maintained within the projects' cost parameters.  

Design Change:
- Ensure the review of any change in design vis a vis possible increase in cost; impact on quality; possible area of cost saving; compliance to overall concept; and any other relevant dimension and present findings and recommendations to the Client.

Project Reporting:
- Responsible for tracking progress of the project against the established deliverables and presenting relevant reports to management.

Project Meetings:
- Participate in Project meetings with consultants and sub consultants on behalf of the Client, to communicate directions/ decision relating to project from the Client; review any design or procedural issues; facilitate decisions regarding course of action and identify responsibilities with the overall objective of maintaining project within time, scope and budget.

Requirements

* Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or appropriate design discipline.
* Minimum 15 years post qualification relevant experience in similar position

* Project type: Hotels, High rise etc. Sector: Rail, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Retail
* Special software - BIM Pre-construction or post contract

Preferences
* PMP certification
* Membership of a professional institute
* Previous Middle East experience
