Transport Modeller (SATURN) - Doha, Qatar
Qatar will be hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ and become the first Middle East nation in history to stage this event. The associated construction programme will be part of a major country regeneration programme including the development of required infrastructure, competition and noncompetitive venues.
CH2M forming part of the integrated programme, is responsible for the construction management of competition venues, training sites, associated common domain precincts and the coordination of the regeneration programme integration works.
The Transport modeller will contribute to the transport planning work in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™.
The principal function of this position is to help build and use a SATURN traffic model of the planned 2022 road network. Once built, the model will be used to evaluate the impact of the FIFA World Cup, when over 1 million fans will visit Qatar.
You will be undertaking traffic modelling using SATURN and VISUM software packages. Additional activities may include involvement in the development of micro-simulation (VISSIM) and pedestrian (Legion) models.
The SATURN model will be linked closely with the Qatar Strategic Transport Model (QSTM) thus experience of VISUM would be an advantage. Outputs from the SATURN model will be fed through to micro-simulation models currently under development.
Requirements
- Hold a relevant first degree and preferably a higher degree related to transport planning, or appropriate science
- Minimum 5 years technical experience in related transport planning, traffic engineering or town planning industry
- Proven experience of using SATURN transport modelling software
- Proven capability in data analysis, ideally with VBA programming skills
- Evidence of being able to deliver diligently to an agreed scope of work and to time and budget requirements
- Ideally have knowledge and experience of other transport planning software, such as VISUM, VISSIM, and LEGION
- Proficient written and oral communication skills, including evidence of presenting model outputs to clients and stakeholders.
