Transportation Systems Manager

Job description / Role

Cavendish Professionals is currently working in an exclusive partnership with Qatar Rail, which is a government-run company set up to manage, operate and maintain three unique and fully integrated rail system to the citizens of Qatar.

Our client is looking for a Transportation Systems Manager to ensure integration across all modes of rail bound transport in terms of transport systems, transport planning, and operations planning.

Job purpose:
* Undertakes required studies related to integration across various railway systems & transport modes to enable Qatar Rail to make informed decisions and fulfil its role.
* Provides strategic advice regarding performance of rail operations.
* Plans to cover all modes of rail bound transport, i.e. Long Distance (including freight and passenger services, high speed and conventional), Metro and Light Rail
* Leads the process from Transportation Planning to Operations Concepts to Systems Requirements to Performance Criteria
* Ensures integration and consistency throughout the aforementioned process
* Ensures integration between the transportation modes
* Develops Operations Concepts for all modes & develops Operational Requirements and translates them into Systems Requirements where applicable
* Develops Operating Performance Criteria
* Carries out operations simulations and modelling works to support the aforementioned tasks
* Provides advice regarding performance optimization resulting in potential revenue generation
* Supervises and manages performance of the team.

Requirements

* Master's Degree (or equivalent) in transportation engineering or planning or science with transportation major.
* Min. 12 years post graduate, preferably in multiple roles (client and consultant) with emphasis on the railway industry
* General knowledge in all fields of railway engineering (i.e. alignment, track work, rail systems, rolling stock, depots)
* Profound knowledge in at least one discipline mentioned above
* Good knowledge about operational aspects of rail bound transportation systems
* Knowledge about non-technical aspects of railway systems (e.g. economic aspects, CAPEX and OPEX, fares and tariffs) is beneficial
* Excellent skills MS Office, good skills in RailSys
* Experience with other simulation models for rail bound transport is beneficial
