Critical Care Consultant

Job description / Role

The Critical Care Consultant will join our existing, highly skilled surgical team to provide a comprehensive elective and emergency Critical Care service.

Consultants will be required to participate in clinical audits and will be expected to be actively involved in clinical governance activities.

The post holder will be responsible for the supervision and training of more junior surgical colleagues and to develop research interests relevant to this post.

Requirements

- Board Certified Critical Care Physician (UK/US/Canada/Europe/South Africa).
- Minimum 1 year Critical Care Fellowship completed plus at least 3 years post-board certification experience in specialty.
- Expert on intensive care management.
- Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Demonstrate ability to carry out clinical research.
- Experience of supervising junior staff.
- Ability to teach clinical and operative skills.
- Involvement in the Clinical Audit process and an understanding of the aims thereof.
- Ability to organize and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating lists.
