Resident Engineer-Tunnel - Saudi Arabia

Our client is a leading international consultancy and is looking for a Resident Engineer - Tunnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers and inspectors in varying fields of expertise (civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural)
- Monitoring and coordinating all contractors' activities for assigned area of rail
- Developing discipline construction schedules and monitoring progress. Providing schedule and progress appraisal report to the Construction Manager
- Monitoring material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline. Ensuring that materials received meet specifications and established standards of quality
- Working with the independent Geotechnical Engineer to identify the different areas of soil types
- Maintaining first-level quality assurance to confirm that the installation of all work within their discipline is in accordance with the plans, specifications, and industry standards
- Supervising the construction engineering work and provide technical expertise for one or more of the construction engineering disciplines, as well as survey personnel
- Ensuring that tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures
- Placing an emphasis on safe construction practices (Target Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Leading by example in driving safe practices on site
- Collaborating with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees
- Ensures that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site- specific safety procedures and industry standards
- Establishing and maintaining liaison with the discipline design engineering staff
- Reviewing and interpreting discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work
- Providing resolution for technical engineering problems and coordinating application of solutions
- Initiating and maintaining records such as back-charge procedures, progress reports as required
- Organizing the data for the final project turnover and report

Requirements

- Degree in engineering or construction-related field
- 10 years post graduating experience on major civil projects
- Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals, structural design of tunnels, soil and rock mechanics
- Experience of working with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) – preferably in a soft soils or urban environment
- Capable of identifying various parts of TBM, their functions and knowledge of their limitations
- Awareness of the operating procedures of various modes of TBM
- Knowledge of the quality issues in TBM drive, ring build, annalus grout and their tolerances
- Ability to distinguish various operating parameters of TBM, and deciphering the relevance of the parameters, capable of recording
- Aware of safety issues in TBM and emergency drills
- GCC experience
