Our client is a global provider of power transformers and rotating electrical machines with global operations based in Romania. Continued market growth has created this opportunity with our client who are a subsidiary of a renowned Saudi business conglomerate with global operations. Our client now seek to appoint a Business Unit Manager for their Motors Division to turn around the motors division business unit. This role is responsible to oversee the overall operations of the Business Unit ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the Business Unit functions and developing and implementing the divisional strategies, policies and practices to support the fulfilment of the Company’s mission and objectives. This role is in charge of the smooth and successful operation of Budgeting, Engineering, Planning, Logistics and Delivery, Production, Operations, Sales, Service and Maintenance of the Motor Division.

Reporting to the CEO and managing the firm’s operations, the proven performer we seek will be responsible for the following:
- Manage business operations in the assigned division to achieve company goals for the overall operations and maintenance of the division.
- Evaluate BU performance and recommend new strategies for performance improvements;
- Develop new business programs to meet productivity and revenue goals;
- Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations which ensures the most effective return on assets;
- Mitigate manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital;
- Assure attainment of productions schedules while ensuring product standards will meet customers’ expectations.
- Assist in employee recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination of contract activities;
- Establish group and individual accountabilities across assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, dependent on need.
- Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
- Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes.
- Schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies.
- Manage expenditure against budget and relative to changes in production volume.
- Ensure that collective bargaining agreements are effectively administered and that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
- Work to establish management practices across assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for construction input and action.
- Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping (clean and safe) in all areas.
- Maintain individual skills keeping up-to-date with latest production and production management concepts.

Requirements

- University degree in Business and / or technical field with a Masters qualification being highly desirable.
- 10+ years’ experience in rotating electric machines industry and 5 year experience in a management position.
- Strong technical expertise in the field of rotating electric machines production with strong sales and marketing vision and acumen.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with superior leadership skills, communication skills; negotiation abilities.
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities with a strong attention to detail.
- Proven problem solver in the achievement of deadlines and targets.
- Administrative and financial skills are a plus.
- Language skills: fluent in English (written and verbal) is a must; knowledge of Romanian is a plus.
