Employment: Full Time

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Incident Investigator who will manage the investigation of accidents in relation to railway safety, occupational health & safety and fire safety.

Job Description:
- Contributes to the implementation of the client's Safety policy;
- Develops the internal process for accidents investigation. This includes evidence collection & evaluation, conduct of interviews, accident analysis & investigation, , identification of the root causes, recording and reporting, publication of accident report;
- Supports the establishments of a system to timely report accidents;
- Reviews regularly the accident investigation process and identifies and implements measures to continually improve the investigation process by incorporating recognized best practice and techniques;
- Cooperates with the external emergency services after an incident and manages the process of quarantine of trains and equipment;
- Identifies the opportunities of improvement following each accident.
- Cooperates with the sub-divisions of the Safety Department and the relevant Department/s and proposes counter measures;
- Prepares the accident investigation report and publishes the report following the internal process;
- Updates the hazard log after each accident in collaboration with the relevant sub-divisions of the Safety Department;
- Follows up the implementation of the recommended remedial measures;
- Reports monthly to the Director of the Safety Department on the status of the accidents investigations and on the status of the recommendations;
- Supports the preparation of emergency plans and the implementation of emergency exercises in order to improve the client's readiness in emergencies;
- Develops and implements practices to increase the level of the safety culture at the client;
- Supports the investigation of incidents, if required;
- Collaborates with the other sub divisions of the Safety Department in order to support the implementation of the Safety Department’s mission/vision/business objectives;
- Supervises the client's compliance with the applicable laws/decrees, standards, Government’s SRC’s requirements in relation to accident investigation and analysis;
- Develops practices to take into account the feedback from the client staff (employee safety suggestions) for the area of his responsibility;
- Promotes the right attitudes and behaviours throughout the workforce and drives the continuous improvement;
- Represents the Client in world wide conferences for accidents investigations.

Requirements

- Strong technical and project background are sought with preferably a minimum of 10 years practical rail experience or 15 years of experience (in the case of technical education);
- Practical experience to investigate incidents;
- Application of Safety Management System;
- Strong expertise in railway systems with a good understanding of operation processes and their interfaces with infrastructure and the rolling stock.
- Degree in engineering (Bachelor or Master or other equivalent diploma) or technical education in the field of railways with long-term professional experience.
- Accident investigator techniques;
- Safety auditor/ lead auditor;
- Profound knowledge and understanding of the railway system at least in one of the following domains: operation, infrastructure or rolling stock;
- Profound knowledge and understanding of the railway subsystems and their interfaces;
- Profound knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety in activities similar to the client's activities;
- Excellent leadership and exemplary function for Safety;
- Profound management skills;
- Ability to compile data and prepare statistics reports;
- Good communication and conflict management skills;
- Project management knowledge;
- Ability to influence people behaviour;
- Very good command of English language (written and oral);
- Good knowledge in MS Office;
- Applicable to hold a driving license for the KSA.
