Automation Engineer

Automation Engineer - Jeddah

Reporting to Electrical & Automation Manager, you will be responsible to ensure the maintenance jobs for automation and control systems are completed at the highest level of quality, safety and at minimum cost.
- Ensure completion of automation and control systems’ maintenance jobs with the highest level of quality, safety and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximize equipment availability.
- Providing technical assistance to Operations for troubleshooting the installed control systems and instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems and propose modifications to existing processes and automation strategies.
- Manage and motivate his team, ensures co-ordination and co-operation between his and other departments.

Key Role & Responsibilities
- Adhere to automation standards focused on DCS and PLC’s.
- Directs modification, installation, maintenance and repair of operations computers/PLC equipment and systems.
- Evaluates and implements cost savings opportunities for the equipment and facilities.
- Investigate possible solutions to engineering problems, exercising innovation and engineering judgment to identify the optimum method or technique for automating the process.
- Provide support of existing control systems platforms such as developing and implementing system backup and restore procedures.
- To be involved in hands-on calibration and troubleshooting and diagnosis on the plant breakdowns.
- Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of works and necessary resources. Assign and review work to perform with the staff.
- Ensure on-going skills enhancement of his team’s employees, helping the development and implementation of training plans. Coach his team’s employees.
- Responsible for programming and maintaining PLC software, including modification and customization.
- Participates in Reliability Cantered Maintenance Assessments.
- Carry out the programming and validation for the commissioning of new or modified equipment.
- To handle on-call duties, participate and attend in troubleshooting and plant breakdowns.
- Provide automation support for process optimization.
- Coordinate and cooperate with Instrumentation Coordinator in carrying-out the daily activities.
- Support instrumentation technicians and assist maintenance with technical issues.
- Maintaining appropriate documentation related to equipment maintenance, processes, performance and analysing it as appropriate to determine and capitalize on best practices.
- Performing all duties in full compliance of all laws, safety and environmental regulations, and in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.
- To keep abreast of the developments in technology updates (hot fixes, service packs, etc.)
- Manage automation system accounts and system security strategy.

Requirements

- Engineer degree specialized in Electrical/Electronics
- 4/6 years experience in Automation and Instrumentation
- Proven skills managing people
- Experience developing/implementing preventive and predictive maintenance processes is highly desirable.

Job-Specific Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of Automation and Instrumentation maintenance operations
- Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems (hardware and software)
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and motor circuits
- Knowledge in electricity and electronics
- Safety rules and regulations
- Knowledge of cement process is desirable.
- Computer literacy.
