Automation Engineer

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Equipment Availability and Reliability
• Contribute to lead Automation implementation/validation in line with the Technical / Technology Integration Framework and Functional Requirements
• Ensure proper integration of Automation Vendor Engineering solution into the overall Terminal Engineering documentation.
• Ensure Automation systems and related documentation comply with contractual requirements, local standard, and regulations (with special care to safety-instrumented functions).
• Test and validate Automation systems both at Vendor Facility and at Terminal with special care for final Performance, Safety and integration with third party system.
• Define and implement recommend corrective actions and projects to increase productivity, efficiency, quality and safety.
• Leading Simulation/Emulation activities with internal and external counterparts ensure smooth commissioning and start of operations in line with the Technical / Technology Integration Framework
• Ensure Electrified and Automated systems are helping reduce risks and ramping up productivity to competitive levels.
• Define and run test cases to validate overall Terminal performance and specific Systems based on contractual requirements and operation requirements. Configure, test and maintain automation systems.
• Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems, and ensure proper repair strategy in place.
• Plan the spare parts to ensure maximum availability of the equipment, follow up of parts requirements and requisitions for maintenance and workshop.
• Produce plans, drawings, and proposals for improvements to maintenance resources and maintenance methods.
• Participates in safety walks and HSSE initiatives.
• Perform/evaluate routine maintenance.
• Perform Fault tracing and root cause analysis.

People Development
• Evaluate and develop Automation support Team, to ensure that they have the necessary technical expertise and skills in port automation.
• Coordinate staff training to close the skills gap.

Innovation
• Promote innovation by improving equipment performance and safety.

Health, Safety and Environment
• Ensure that maintenance team works in conformity to DP World Safety and Environment Policy, standards and procedures, provide input to incident reports and corrective actions.

Education / Qualifications

Professional Training
• Engineering Degree or equivalent with (electronics &Controls - automation) focus
• Specific and practical experience on Automated Container Terminals (project management, integration, IT,), bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Spoken / Written Languages
• Moderate English
• Advanced English and Arabic
• Computer Skills
• Computer Literate
• Experienced in Drives, PLC, Office Applications, EAMS, Crane automation software
• Safety & Environment
• Awareness of Safety and Environment Procedures Fully conversant with Safety and Environment Best Practices
