• Carry out the characterization and interpretation of known sample based on comparison against a reference product/material specification on related properties by applying appropriate analytical techniques (e.g. Pilot/Simulated Bench Scale, Simulated Distillation, etc.)
• Carry out the characterization and interpretation for unknown samples (e.g. sludge sample) by applying appropriate analytical techniques.

Chemical and Physical Process of Simple Plants (Utility Processes):
• Identify abnormalities based on the evaluation of test data.
• Participate and contribute ideas/related analytical data in technical discussion/meeting (e.g. suggestion for corrective action/problem solving, etc.).

Laboratory Quality Assurance:
• Develop quality manual and procedures and job instruction, forms and other quality documents.
• Conduct internal audit within own laboratory.

Equipment Maintenance Philosophy and Influences
• Perform troubleshooting, minor repairs and maintenance activities for most laboratory equipment.
• Perform major repairs on selective equipment in the laboratory.
• Develop work procedures for preventive maintenance.

Sampling Techniques and Methods for Non-Standard & Investigative:
• Coordinate and lead non-standard sampling activities according to specific procedure and specific HSE requirement) without supervision, to obtain representative sample (e.g. plant streams and product, mercury, crude sampling, sludge, air sampling, etc.)
• Recommend appropriate and enhance non-standard sampling procedures.

Non-Standard & Investigative Analytical Testing:
• Select the non-standard test method and apply to the investigative analysis without supervision
• Calculate and apply measurement of uncertainty on the non-standard test method without supervision.
• Analyze and interpret non-standard test results related to process condition and provide suggestion to determine the root cause.
• Perform non-standard test method validation (e.g. IVIU, robustness, LOD, selectivity, linearity etc.)
• Develop new non-standard test method with supervision.

Method Validation for Modified and New Test Methods:
• Perform method validation for modified test method without supervision.
• Apply modified test method with method validation to get acceptance e.g. customer / stakeholders.

Competency Assessment and Skill Audit:
• Lead JQP assessment for various types of assessment (oral, written and practical).
• Conduct laboratory skill audit and understand criteria and produce report as according to ASTM 136792/ 136299 ASTM E-691.

Product and Process Chemicals Performance Evaluation and Development:
• Evaluate interpret test data and produce product and process chemical performance report (e.g. stability test, detergency foaming, bottle test, material compatibility test, etc,) without supervision.
• Lead technical discussion and recommend chemical/product/additive performance improvements.
• Collaborate with additive supplier/third party in conducting chemical/product/additive performance bench test and field/plant trial.

Chemical and Physical Process of Complex Plants:
• Identify abnormalities based on the evaluation of test data (e.g. high acid number value can caused corrosion, moisture problem, sulfur/nitrogen breakthrough lead to catalyst poisoning, etc.).
• Participate and contribute ideas/related analytical data in technical discussion/meeting (e.g. suggestion for corrective action/problem solving, etc.).
