Employment: Full Time

Our Client are a well established and successful multi-site business that design and fabricate, supply and install a wide range of products in steel, stainless steel, glass and aluminum.  They specialise in providing creative and efficient solutions to challenging structural engineering problems. 
 
The company has two distinct divisions: Steel and Aluminum, typical work undertaken includes, Structural and Architectural space frames, Skylights and Curtain wall structures, Stainless Steel systems and Ornamental handrails.

They are looking to recruit a COO. this person will report to the owners of the company, which is part of an impressive group with diverse business interests.

Our client is looking for a seasoned COO with a strong metal fabrication background to lead and improve all aspects of the business:
- Developing and executing the short and long range strategy  to improve profitability for the business across all manufacturing sites
- Developing specific goals and objectives for each functional area, communicate with the team and engage the team in executing the plan - remove obstacles
- Leading, motivating and continually improving the skills of the group - build the bench for rapid growth
- Developing the operations budget including capital equipment expenditures and headcount
- Defining and improving all processes that involve production, manufacturing engineering, maintenance and supply chain
- Partnering with Continuous Improvement to engage the operations team in implementing changes to increase efficiency and stream line business processes - get the waste out
- Leading and fostering a consistent ``culture`` between sites at different locations
- Ensuring a safe and clean work environment for employees
- Working across multiple functions and doing whatever it takes to complete the job
- Ensuring new product launches are flawless
- Staying current with new technology/methods and ensuring the operation is on the leading edge of technology

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in business or a technical field required.
- 10 years experience managing a multi-plant metal fabricating business with PandL responsibility
- Strong project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills, and provide strong leadership in a production environment
- Previous experience with tooling, welding, painting and metal fabrication processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A "hands on" leadership approach
