ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary
Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of Prosthodontics, in accordance with current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the hospital's policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Clinical Responsibilities:
Responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of disorders and conditions in the field of Prosthodontics, including implantology.
Prepares records required for the laboratory fabrication of dental prostheses appliances.
Makes complete dentures, removable partial dentures and conventional and implant bridges for patients in need of complex and combined prosthodontic rehabilitation.
Recognizes and manages functional and non-functional occlusion related to Prosthodontics.
Designs dental prosthesis and appliances, writes laboratory prescriptions and evaluates laboratory products with the specialist.
Advises patients on dental hygiene and oral health practices.
Obtains and interprets medical, dental and psychosocial history. Reviews systems as necessary, and evaluates physical or psychosocial conditions that may affect dental management.
Performs a thorough clinical oral and radiographic examination.
Manages dental emergencies.
Prepares for and supports patients for treatment by practising universal precautions and infection control, organizing armamentarium and making dental procedures comfortable for the patients.
Shares on-caii schedule as per requirements.
Performs any other clinical responsibilities related to the speciality, as assigned.

Academic Responsibilities:
Directs and advices junior staff on patient management, especially in the field of Prosthodontics.
Guides and actively participates in the training and teaching of Residents, Fellows, Assistant
Consultants and junior staff.
Keeps abreast with all the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of Prosthodontics, following and implementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
Actively participates in the educational activities and training programs of the department.
Participates in national and international medical conferences.

Research Responsibilities:
Participates in clinical, basic and translations research projects in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and international recognition of KFSH & RC.

Administrative Responsibilities:
Undertakes the administrative duties assigned by Head of Section or Chairman.
Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required.
Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.
Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.
Reviews and acts upon referrals from Eligibility Department within 24 hours as designated by section head or chairman.
Performs any other related duties, as assigned.
