Core Analyst

Job description / Role

Gabas OMNI Petroleum Services Ltd seek a highly motivated individual to join our Core Analysis team. The successful candidate shall operate cohesively in a team environment, have sound problem solving skills and carry out tasks demonstrating high level of detail. This role will be reporting to the Operations Manager or his designate, and the role includes but not limited to offshore fieldwork on an ad-hoc basis. The nature of ad-hoc offshore work requires flexibility and the ability to travel offshore at short notice.

Main Duties
• Set up and maintain equipment for core analysis testing.
• Record operating data from laboratory equipment including flow pumps, pressure transducers and gauges, scales and balances, resistivity monitors, and basic laboratory glassware.
• Work independently on projects while maintaining a team atmosphere with other analysts.
• Communicate data and results with Management in a clear manner.
• Provide project completion schedules for Management.
• Design test programs to meet Client expectations.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for internal use by assigned technicians.
• Train assigned technicians to set up and collect data.
• Perform field duties when needed, which include segmenting, inventorying, and transporting core back to the laboratory.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Responsibilities
• Independently perform various petrophysical analyses including porosity/permeability, Archie parameters, capillary pressure tests, two-phase flow experiments, NMR spectroscopy, wettability.
• Quality control and Assurrance of all internal laboratory data.
• Ensure that laboratory equipment is maintained and validated.
• Data interpretation, reporting and client contact.
• Ensure all work is performed according to Gabas OMNI working practices.
• Ensure that work is performed in a safe and organized manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience, 3-5 years preferred.
• Must be computer literate with strong working knowledge of MS Office products.
• Good time and project management skills.
• Desired Relevant laboratory experience including:
• Wellsite (onshore/offshore) duties.
• Routine core analysis.
• Special core analysis.
• Ability to mentor and/or be mentored.
• Perform mathematical and scientific computations.
• Qualified applicants must be able to interpret scientific data.
