Description
• JOB TITLE: TECHNICIAN, CSSD/MEDICAL STCIRES
• RESPONSIBLE TO: MANAGER, CSSD/MEDICAL STORES

BASIC FUNCTION:
This position involves the centralized processing and sterilization of patient care, reusable devices, instruments, and equipment. These items are held in storage and then distributed, along with pre-packaged, pre-sterilized supplies, using a distribution cart to the various patient care areas of the Hospital including the operating rooms and dental clinic.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Receives contaminated devices, instruments and equipment in the decontamination area and reduces the bioburden, being sure to always don personal protective equipment. Uses chemical disinfectants and sterilants according to safety procedures.
• Operates the decontamination and terminal sterilization equipment and reports all malfunctions or changes in the parameters.
• Sorts, inspects, assembles, and wraps or packages all decontaminated items.
• Assures proper sterility of all processed items by adhering to established sterilization procedures, including loading, unloading, storage, handling techniques and sterility assurance monitors. Incubates Biological Monitors and records all monitor results according to established procedures.
• Applies tracking labels.
• Prepares single items and various sets as designated.
• Stocks CSSD carts with processed linen or instruments according to the pre-determined items and quantities necessary to bring the carts to par level.
• Reduce microbial growth and the transmission of microorganisms by daily damp dusting with the approved hospital disinfectant. Inspects and cleans sterilization equipment in CSSD according to established schedule.
• Completes all requisitions and forms for issues during the work shift. Effects emergency issues from the Medical Stores area.
• Requisitions supplies and re-stocks shelves with products necessary for CSSD operation. Rotates stock on a first in/first out basis. Checks all items for sterilization.
• Maintains control of traffic in all restricted areas of the department including the proper use of surgical scrub attire.
• Assists in new employee orientation.
• Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
• Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Sign on bonus: USD $2500 for one year and $5000 for two years.
• Airline Tickets: You will be entitled to both Initial Hire and Repatriation tickets to and from your point of origin. In addition, each year if you are there for more than 1 year you will be entitled to a free round-trip annual leave ticket to your point of origin.
• Service year bonus: One month salary on completion of year two and yearly thereafter paid at the end of each contract year.
• End of contract bonus: This is a one-time payment made upon your final departure from the Hospital and is accrued throughout your tenure within the Hospital. Severance pay accrues at a rate of 15 days. Pay for each of your first four years and 30 days. Pay for the fifth and subsequent years.

Vacation/ Annual leave: 54 days/year is divided as follows:
• 36 days paid annual leave (accrued 3 days/month)
• 17 days annual paid holidays (07 Eid AI-ftr & 10 Haj Holidays)
• 1 day paid National holiday.

Free Housing: Free fully furnished hospital housing or a housing allowance. All utilities are paid by the hospital with the exception of your personal telephone calls, cable TV and internet access in the home.

Medical and Dental Treatment: You are entitled to Medical Care through the Family Medicine Department. Dental Treatment is on an emergency basis only.

Recreational Facilities:
• The hospital has a number of recreational facilities open to you, including swimming pools, tennis courts, a bowling alley and amenities centre. In addition, the Employee Social Club & Recreation Services offer a number of recreational courses, exercise programs and trips and a variety of other benefits to the employees. There are numerous Western companies in Jeddah with thousands of expats.

Requirements

EDUCATION:
• High School graduate and Certification in CSSD (required for Non-Saudi Nationals)
• IPA Diploma Hospital Administration or related discipline (for Saudi National)

EXPERIENCE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English
• Two (2) years experience in CSSD (for Non- Saudi)
