Job description / Role
International relocation opportunity for a Deputy Herd Director to manage c20,000 milking cows in a state of the art facility in KSA.
A leading dairy business in the GCC is looking for an experienced herd manager to oversee a large milking herd as the Deputy Herd Manager based from its KSA farm.
This role is open for global relocation for the right candidate with the relevant skill set and is an excellent opportunity to gain international exposure from a regionally recognisable household named brand.
The role, reporting to the Herd Director has four senior direct reports and circa 150 indirect reports. Day to day management of the 20,000+ milking herd will fall on this professional as will budget management and administrative responsibility.
The challenge of this role will be to continue to achieve the high hygiene and animal welfare levels expected by the business and industry while increasing capability and ultimately profitability.
The facility offers state of the art machinery and a proactive and experienced team coupled with engaged senior managers at a corporate level.
Requirements
- Experience with a herd of at least 10,000 milking cows – ideally 20,000 plus
- Clear English communications skills, other languages a bonus
- A strong man manager with significant previous experience managing a multi-functional team
- An acute understanding of animal health issues to safeguard the herd’s health and improve fertility levels
- Strong administrative skills with a high level of computer literacy
- A formal qualification (i.e. Veterinary Science) would be advantageous but not essential
- Extensive experience working with a milking herd and a real passion for the role and industry will be questioned at interview level.
