Employment: Full Time

The Specialist EDMS works under general direction Superintendent EDMS. Actively participates in determining objectives of assignment. Plans, schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

In this role, the Engineering Data Management Specialist (EDMS) will be responsible for implementing processes and tools, providing system reports, maintaining and updating electronic information systems, distributing documents, and ensuring accuracy of all documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

General Management
- Utilizes professional experience in the production, review and analysis of engineering data such as 2D and 3D product drawings, CAD models, CAD files, and associated lists.
- Ensure contractual acquisition of such engineering data, to include knowledge of related legal, statutory, instructional, policy, and procedural requirements.
- Utilizes knowledge of ASME and ISO standards for proper creation of engineering data Technical Data Packages (TDPs) as well as working knowledge of CAD tools, platforms, file types and indexing and delivery requirements for submitting digital data for repository storage and management.
- Responsible to portray original engineering ideas and information through drawings.
- Utilizes experience in engineering drafting to prepare a complete sets of drawings, to include accurate representation of dimensions, tolerances, fits, and fabrication techniques.
- Ensures accurate interpretation of sketches; standard parts identification; and information from the design originator, technical handbooks, manuals, and manufacturers publications.
- Individual must be familiar with engineering design/management software.
- Determines user needs; advises engineering personnel on characteristics that affect complex systems.
- Oversees and control of a technical data repository and/or relational database.
- Utilizes their knowledge of relational database software to include designing data input screen templates and generation of management reports.
- Effectively maintain integrity, quality control and accuracy of a large volume of technical data through accurate data input and tracking.
- Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of technical data control procedures for physical and electronic repositories.
- Plans and coordinates preparation of project documentation, such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications, to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Reviews contract to determine documentation required for each phase of project, applying knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system drawings. Coordinates modification records for distribution, approval and management control.


Budgets and Plans
- Assist in the development and preparation of the annual financial budget in coordination with the various Engineering Managers and manage the EDMS Department to accomplish those budgets.
- Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.

Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of EDMS Department at MWSPC Plant sites to ensure all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering the appropriate quality and targeted objectives in a cost-effective manner.
- Monitors EMDS Department service level agreements with other customers.

Health, Safety and Environmental
- Promote a culture of Safety First as reflected by low accident and incident rates.
- Ensure implementation of the operational HSE Management System to ensure all MWSPC staff observes standard HSE processes and operating procedures.

Requirements

-A Degree in Business Management or similar
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working as a document information specialist, data management specialist, document control specialist, project controls coordinator, engineering services support, records management or a combination thereof.

The Engineering Document Management System covers Smartplant Foundation (SPF), which also incorporates SPI, SPEL, SPP&ID and PDS and will also need to incorporate a document management system for the WAS project documents

Knowledge of technical engineering, procurement, contract documents and software systems such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio, SharePoint, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Vulcan and various EDM systems.
