Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose: To conduct regular firefighting equipment and instruments monitoring and inspection activities as instructed by the Supervisor Fire Brigade.

- Check fixed and mobile fire equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire mains, and valves at various locations. Operate all types of mobile and stationery fire pumps at required pressure and flow. Participate in fire prevention and protection training programs. Perform maintenance work on various types of portable firefighting equipment.
- Check all types of fire extinguishers, fire mains, and valves at various locations. This includes testing to ensure correct working condition. Arrange refilling of cylinders and fire extinguishers and replace used ones, this includes newly installed foam tank.
- Operate all types of mobiles and stationery fire pumps at required pressure and flow. Adjust and control pumps and engine settings to desired condition. Test all fire engines weekly, to ensure its operability at all times.
- Participate in fire prevention and protection training programs for all Personnel. Make necessary preparations for practical fire fighting drills.
- Perform Fire Brigade Operator’s functions in case of emergency. This includes operating all types of fire fighting and rescue equipment and performing standby salvage and rescue works.
- Dispatch the proper tools and equipment for use in rescue operations and operate rescue equipment to free trapped persons in case of vehicles and other accidents.
- Perform maintenance work on various types of portable firefighting equipment such as hoses, hose binding, couplings, branch pipes breaching, foam cannons, water wheel monitors and all types of fire extinguishers.
- Ensure the proper operation of mobile radio equipment installed on all fire trucks at start of every shift.
- Perform duties in accordance to public safety, fire and rescue standards and internal work procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor Fire Brigade.

Requirements

- Two (2) years Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
- No previous experience required.
- Good knowledge of fire fighting with Refining Industry.
- Good knowledge of Incident/injury prevention.
- Ability to perform work under pressure.
- Willing to work irregular hours.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Good command of oral and written English.
