Health, Safety and Environment Officer

Job description / Role

- Identify and cause correction of occupational safety and health hazards
- Continuously monitor workers for exposure to safety or health hazardous conditions.
- Provide training and safety and health information.
- Exercise emergency authority to stop and prevent unsafe acts.
- Review and approve the medical plan.
- Assist the site manager in coordinating all HSE activities.
- Reinforces behavior and corrects unsafe behavior.
- Be constantly alert for unsafe conditions and bring such conditions to the attention of the supervisor and, if necessary, the site manager.
- Participates on the site’s Executive HSE Committee.
- Conduct HSE induction for new recruit
- Responsible for implementation the safety program whenever required.
- Providing specialized safety input to the construction and sub-contractors.
- Assisting in reviewing the ES&H plans, Method statements, project specific construction safety procedures, plans (i.e. evacuation plan, safety training plans)

Requirements

- University Qualifications: Preferable University degree
- Other certifications obtained: Health and Safety certificate required
- +5 Years overall experience in Construction projects
- Ms Office Applications

Language Fluency: Arabic and English

- Working knowledge of health and safety plans
- Extensive knowledge of accident investigation and reporting process.
- Extensive knowledge of conducting safety audits and inspection
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate with employees at all level of the organization
- Excellent written and verbal skills required
- Ability to analyze organizational process through the review of data
- Ability to train others (individual, and groups)
