Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

We require a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer t o implement, review and report on all aspects of Atkins' Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management Systems and HSE Operational Procedures. To ensure HSE procedures and controls are adhered to by all employed on the project in accordance with the contract documents, relevant international standards and local / federal laws and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

- Visit project site frequently (as required) to supervise the ongoing construction activities.
- To ensure that the works are carried out safely and in-line with quality standards, in accordance to contract documents.
- Prepare and deliver site specific HSE Induction
- Prepare and deliver Safety Bite Training (basic level of complexity)
- Prepare and deliver in depth topic specific training (basic level of complexity)
- Challenge unsafe behaviour/attitude at any level when encountered
- Complete site specific HSE Plan
- Complete site specific RA, EIA and Fire Risk Assessment for small, non-complex projects)
- Complete Emergency Preparedness Plan (basic level of complexity)
- Prepare an effective Quarterly Monitoring Plan for a non-complex site
- Review contractor Method Statements & Risk Assessments (basic level of complexity)
- Conduct daily site inspections under the guidance of a more senior member of staff
- Conduct basic HSE System / Activity audits Assessments (basic level of complexity)
- Undertake investigations (including identifying root causes) of uncomplicated accidents (basic level of complexity)
- Analyse current HSE trends occurring on site and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
- Evaluate client / contractor competency & site performance (basic level of complexity)
- Escalate any serious HSE issues to the Area HSE Manager promptly
Write inspection reports / Safety Enforcement Notices / audit reports
- Draft Atkins' monthly HSE statistics report for RE approval
- Understand and apply general legislative OH&S requirements
- Develop an area of expertise (intermediate level of complexity)
- Apply full working knowledge of the Atkins' safety management system
- Implement and maintain an effective HSE document recording system
- Effectively prioritise work load
- Work with staff to solve safety problems
- Implement Atkins' HR policies where appropriate

Requirements

Requirements

- A degree or diploma qualification in a related field.
- Must be qualified with relevant Health and Safety Qualifications- Minimum NEBOSH IGC, OHSAS
- Minimum 5-6 years ac tive experience working on consultancies, civil engineering / construction projects in the Middle East.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
